The Dance-A-Thon is coming up on 10/05. See Fundraising/Dance-A-Thon for details.
Did you know that reading just 20 minutes a day exposes your child to about 1.8 million words per year?! Reading helps students develop a stronger vocabulary, and in addition, students who read for pleasure average higher grades in English, mathematics, science, and history. Encourage your child to read books by attending our upcoming Enchanted Forest: Let Your Imagination Grow Scholastic book fair. Allow your child to choose the book or books they want to read.
Mark your calendar for September 10-14. Students will visit the book fair in the LGI during their scheduled library class as follows.
Monday, 9/10: Smith, Midgley, Skoff, Marchese
Tuesday, 9/11: Andrews, D'Eramo, Brecht, Peifer, Hong
Wednesday, 9/12: Callihan, Vincent, Cianfichi/Steen, Mossellem, Martz
Thursday, 9/13: Ferace, Jacob/Smith, Ord, Calfe, Dolny
Friday, 9/14: Pampalone, Klimchock, Hadley, Mickel
If a student is unable to attend the book fair in person, we invite you to visit the online book fair at http://scholastic.com/bf/sloanelementary. All books ordered via online will be sent to the school and then sent to the student's homeroom.
Good news...you as parents/guardians have the opportunity to visit the book fair during the open house nights!
Payment will be accepted in the form of cash, credit card, and checks payable to SLOAN PTO. Please remember to include 6% sales tax!
If you are interested in volunteering during your child's class, or other classes, please signup at http://signup.com/go/iHsdQbV.
All volunteers must have the appropriate clearances on file with the school.
We look forward to seeing you at the book fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school. Thank you for your continued support of our young readers!
